Kate and Wills’ ‘mum and dad night snap makes them relatable’, says expert

Prince William and Kate Middleton’s New Year’s Eve snap of them having a “mum and dad night” makes them “relatable”, a royal commentator has claimed.

William and Kate recently brought in the new year by releasing a picture on their Twitter of the couple together in a taxi at the James Bond premiere.

Royal fans went wild for the picture, which shows the Duchess in a shimmering gold dress and her husband sporting a black tuxedo and bow tie.

Now, with the couple reportedly stepping up as senior members of the Royal Family after a tricky year for The Firm, a royal commentator has suggested that the photo will make the Cambridges appear more relatable to the public.

Speaking on the Royally Us podcast, Christina Garibaldi addressed the photo, noting: “William and Kate rang in the new year with a rare and intimate glimpse at their relationship.

“It was one of my favourite looks on Kate, and I just love this picture because we don’t really see them holding hands and posing for the camera.”

“It was such an intimate moment,” agreed co-host Christine Ross. “They’re holding hands, they’re really leaning into each other.

“It was so lovely, it looked really off the cuff, it wasn’t posed, it wasn’t staged. It was just a lovely moment between them.

“It’s so relatable, it’s mum and dad date night.”

The Cambridges have three children together; George (8), Charlotte (6), and Louis (3).

On this year’s Christmas card, the family dressed down, posing for a picture while on holiday in the Middle East.

And with frequent suggestions that Prince Charles is looking to slim down the Royal Family once he takes the throne, one royal expert suggested that this is evidence of William and Kate’s intention to run royal affairs in “their own way”.
