A son searching for his long-lost dad described the moment the pair were reunited just days before Christmas as a "miracle."
Jason Kelly, 23, hadn’t seen his dad since he was 12-years-old when his parents marriage broke down and David Kelly left the home.
The pair were reunited after the Liverpool Echo ran a story a few days before the festivities, featuring a photo Jason had of his dad in the 1990s.
A reader recognised David and gave Jason an address where it had been rumoured he was staying for the last few years.
On Christmas Eve, Jason turned up at the address but a woman in her 70s answered the door, who confirmed David was staying at the property but he was out.
Jason was about to leave his number but saw his dad return from his morning run, and the 23-year-old approached him.
The shock was so great, David started to run away and Jason chased after him before the pair had a tearful reunion.
Jason told the Echo : "I was shouting dad it's me, Jason. Eventually it started to sink in and I caught up to walk beside him.
"When he recognised me, he stared asking after the family and he was trying to remember my birth date.
"At that point he didn't want to look at me as his eyes were welling up with tears.
"I'm exactly the same when it comes to things like that.."

The father and son are now starting to develop a relationship but Jason said he will take things slow to not overwhelm the 67-year-old.
He also plans to help his father get back on his feet as he can't access a bank account because he needs proof of his existence.
Jason said: "I'm trying to see if I can get his birth certificate. He can't access a bank account as he needs a proof of person and he doesn't' have anything.
"On the photograph, the reason his hands are up by his eyes is he's holding his glasses together as he's had them about ten years!
"It's a miracle really. When he was running off I thought oh God. It was the outcome I was fearing the most.
"But to find him before Christmas was absolutely amazing. I had that in mind and it's a miracle that it happened."
