Fears grow for missing girl, 13, who has not been seen since leaving her Edinburgh home on Sunday morning

  • Emma Sutherland was last seen leaving her home in Oxgangs at 9am yesterday 
  • Her family had contact with her late last night but haven’t heard anything since 
  • Emma, 13, is 5ft 6ins tall, of a slim build and with long brown hair and blue eyes

Police have issued an urgent appeal to help find a missing girl who vanished after leaving her home in Scotland on Sunday morning.

Emma Sutherland, 13, has not been seen since she left her house in Oxgangs, Edinburgh at around 9am on August 16. 

Her family had contact with her late last night but have not heard from her since. 

Emma is described as 5ft 6ins tall, of a slim build and with long brown hair and blue eyes.

She was wearing a black jacket, grey leggings, black and white Nike trainers and carrying a grey handbag at the time of her disappearance.

Inspector Keith Forrester from Wester Hailes police station said: ‘Along with her family, we are becoming increasingly concerned for Emma’s welfare and we are keen to locate her as soon as possible. 

She is known to frequent the Oxgangs, Ferniehill and Howdenhall areas and I would urge anyone who may have seen her, or knows where she is, to contact us as soon as possible. 

‘Similarly, if Emma is reading this, please let us know you are safe and well.’

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident 0023 of Monday, 17 August. 2020.
