Monster was watching porn before he murdered stepson, 2, and rang his drug dealer as the tragic boy lay dying

A MONSTER jailed for murdering a toddler watched porn before the attack – and then rang his drug dealer as the two-year-old lay dying.

Vile Martin Currie, 36, was caged for life on Wednesday for killing tiny Keigan O'Brien and must serve a minimum of 22 years.

Fresh details have since emerged of the moments before he battered tragic Keigan at the family home in Doncaster, South Yorks.

Currie slammed him against a wall or a floor in a fit of rage triggered when Keigan interrupted him in bed watching porn on his mobile phone.

Analysis of the heroin addict’s phone usage revealed he had also been looking at gambling sites and had contacted his drug dealer.

Currie struck two days after Keigan's second birthday – while his mum, Sarah O'Brien, 33, was taking her other children to school.

When she returned to their home Keigan was unresponsive in bed.

Instead of calling an ambulance the callous pair waited two hours to concoct a story – by which time it was too late to save little Keigan.

The boy died from a bleed on the brain inflicted by Currie's violent outburst.

A post-mortem revealed Keigan had also suffered a broken spine, broken ribs, black eyes and a broken arm due to twisting in the weeks before his murder.

Keigan’s blood was also found on his high chair, on a wall, and on Currie’s clothing at the family home in Doncaster, South Yorks.

Neither O'Brien or Currie sought medical help for the injuries Keigan suffered before he was rushed to hospital on January 8.

O'Brien was cleared of murder, but found guilty of causing or allowing the death of her defenceless son Keigan, and jailed for eight years.

Currie was found guilty of his murder and child cruelty and caged for at least 22 years.

The pair -who had only been dating for six months – referred to Keigan as "w***stain" and "s***head", Sheffield Crown Court heard.

And on one occasion Currie was seen man-handling Keigan before yelling: "Stop moaning, you little bastard."

Jill Brookes, from the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "Tragically, little Keigan O’Brien’s life came to an end only four days after his second birthday.

"He was killed in his own home – the place where he should have been safest from harm.

"Having heard all the evidence, the jury decided that Currie inflicted fatal injuries on the defenceless little boy, and O’Brien took no steps to protect her child.

"They both then lied about what had happened. The pair are now facing lengthy prison sentences.

"The desperately sad and shocking outcome of this case is that Keigan’s life ended before it had barely begun.

"Our thoughts remain with the rest of Keigan’s family, as they have been throughout."
