Video captured a teenager’s terrified reaction to the massive Beirut blast that leveled much of the Lebanese capital’s waterfront Tuesday.
The video shows the girl initially looking out in wonderment, while another voice is heard asking if it was an earthquake.
“Bro, this is the first time I feel like….,” the teen begins to ask, almost smiling.
The sound of the explosion cuts her off, and her look turns to one of utter horror as she runs into the apartment screaming.
At one point she looks into the camera visibly scared and puzzled, then screams. Others are heard screaming near her.
The footage offers a glimpse into the real-life terror that the explosion unleashed when it flattened large swaths of the Beirut port district.
At least 137 people were killed in the blast, including at least one American, and thousands were injured. Officials said more than 300,000 were left homeless by the explosion, which they believe was caused by a 2,700-ton shipment of ammonium nitrate that had been left in a warehouse for years.
