Woman’s ‘once in a lifetime’ packet of Walkers Crisps leaves her bemused

A woman was left "stunned" after opening her packet of crisps to find it completely empty.

Cardiff-based Yarna Davies was surprised to find that one of snacks found inside a multipack of cheese and onion Walkers was empty in a "once-in-a-lifetime" occurrence.

She bought the rare packet on January 3 at a local Sainsbury’s branch.

“There was not even a crumb”, she told WalesOnline.

“I bought them in Sainsbury’s down the road and opened the first packet about three days ago,” the barber and hairdresser said.

“My friend was here and I finished the first packet. I thought ‘ooh, I’m still hungry – I’ll have another one’

“I shook the pack, and thought ‘ooh, that’s funny’, and I said to my friend ‘have a look at this’. “Obviously no noise or anything when I shook the packet.

“My friend said ‘oh my god that’s amazing – you need to do something about that’.

“I thought ‘don’t be silly’.

“But my friend said ‘honestly now, it’s a once in a lifetime thing’, so I thought ‘yeah I’ll share it’.”

After sharing her story, crisp giant Walkers said that they would give her a voucher while they also issued an apology.

The firm told her that it happened due to a “problem with the machines”, as well as an issue with delivery drivers. They reportedly told her something must have gone wrong on the production line.

She added: “I can’t lie I was about annoyed when I realised (there were no crisps in the packet), but now I just think it was one of those things.

“It’s really quite fun to leave it unopened and have it there.

“I think I’ll put it in a drawer and keep it – like I say, it’s a once in a lifetime thing and this is never going to happen to me again.”

The Daily Star has contacted Walkers for comment.
